In the wonderful National Park there is so much to see and above all to do. The Bussento river flows through this uncontaminated and well-kept territory. It is a watercourse that extends for a total of 37 km and is among the most important in the park. It is fed by various streams that come from the Campania Apennines and which come together in the Sanza area and then find outlet in the Tyrrhenian Sea and in particular in the suggestive Gulf of Policastro.

The Bussento river originates in the southernmost part of Mount Cervati and in particular in the territory that is part of the municipality of Caselle in Pittari. A truly extraordinary route that crosses various municipalities, passing under Mount Panel and then re-emerging in the locality of Morigerati. By following it you could experience an extraordinary adventure and this is why the park managers have managed to create a series of unmissable trekking routes.

The trekking routes of the Bussento river

Fortunately, in recent years there has been greater attention to environmental issues and above all to rediscovering the beauty of the area. Mother Natura she is the most extraordinary artist the world has ever known, capable of painting evocative landscapes and creating trekking routes, in this case of great charm. Among other things, this river, thanks to the erosive work of the water, has managed to create real works of art with the limestone rocks modeled over the centuries. There are several exciting experiences that can be had in this part of the National Park of Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni. For example, you can go up the course until you reach the springs or walk through the tunnel that the river itself has dug into the rock. These paths are unrivaled for their beauty and charm. An absolutely must-visit place are the Morigerati caves which are also WWF Oases. These are caves located under the community of Morigerati characterized once again by the passage of the Bussento river which practically created them. The route is quite simple because it develops mainly downhill along a characteristic mule track which was partly created in the rock. At a certain point you even find yourself passing a small canyon carved by the river. In short, it is a wonderful adventure that can be experienced safely in our beloved Cilento.
