Literacy Day, Antonella Casaburi: “Promote digital literacy”
International Literacy Day is celebrated on 8 September, an anniversary that focuses attention on one of the fundamental human rights: education, a fundamental tool for eradicating poverty and promoting social and human progress. “Until a few decades ago, the people of Cilento, children of a wonderful but geographically and culturally isolated land, were largely illiterate. Access to education was reserved for the wealthier classes, and the population knew neither how to read nor write" states the teacher and writer of Cilento origins Antonella Casaburi, author of the book Mirari, a novel presented at the Turin International Book Fair, Alla Rome Book Fair and the Prague International Book Fair. "There culture denied is a sentence to a miserable life. Today, when education has become compulsory, there is a new type of illiteracy: digital illiteracy.
