The Sunday puzzle: Camerota

Camerota has made its debut on the scene of human civilization since prehistory. His important role in the investigation into the Nehandertalians of southern Europe is now a matter of scientific evidence. It seems that all the millennia preceding the historical phase of human history are affected by the presence of anthropic communities, who have scattered their fascinating passage with finds and artefacts of absolute cultural interest. The great leap from prehistory to history occurs through written documentary clues, which give us material to decipher a path and an identity. The Proto-Italic and Hellenistic phases do not provide certain information for the territories of Camerota, but the interesting proximity of important archaeological sites is, in fact, already historical evidence of a transit and perhaps strategic role of the coast of Camerota with respect to the more internal settlements and those of coastline. The oldest traces of historical civilization in the Cameroon area belong to the settlements of the Italian-Greek monks, who, starting from the 7th/8th century, moved from the east towards Puglia, Calabria, Lucania and Cilento. This is a dynamism of enormous cultural significance, which will mark the exit of our territories from the decline following the barbarian invasions and the beginning of the real history of Cilento and Camerota.
