G7 countries are discussing different ways to transfer frozen assets of the Russian Federation to Ukraine, Reuters – US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen says a number of possible options are currently under discussion, from outright confiscation of assets to using them as collateral, stressing that Washington is “very supportive” of recent EU moves to separate income from interest from the body of frozen assets. According to Yellen, one of the most promising proposals is the transfer by the G7 countries of the proceeds of frozen Russian assets to Ukraine to use them as collateral for loans or bonds issued to help Ukraine. A senior representative of the US Treasury noted that Ukraine will not be able to receive the entire amount at once.
