Tragic accident occurred on the night between 6 and 7 April along state road 91, near Campagna in the province of Salerno where two young carabinieri, Francesco Pastore and Domenico Ferraro, tragically lost their lives. The accident involved three vehicles including the Carabinieri police car and a white Range Rover responsible for the impact with the military car and ended fatally despite the timely intervention of the firefighters who extracted the two carabinieri from the sheets in critical condition. Marshal Paolo Volpe was injured and in a state of shock and hospitalized with a reserved prognosis.
The victims, Marshal Pastore, 25 years old, a native of Manfredonia with his father serving at the Radiomobile of the San Giovanni Rotondo Company, and the chosen officer Ferraro, 27 years old, were both in service at the Eboli company.
Three other people from Battipaglia, Eboli and Oliveto Citra were injured in the accident. The exact dynamics of the incident are currently under investigation; initial reconstructions suggest that the carabinieri car was carrying out road checks when it was hit by the Range Rover, which then hit a Fiat Punto before stopping. Six ambulances intervened on site to provide first aid and transport the injured to hospital, while the authorities proceed with investigations to precisely outline the institutional events,.
