Gone, come on 18 hours today 25/5/24, from Good habitation, the Panta Rei Fest: an afternoon dedicated to Luigi Pirandello. It begins with the presentation of the book “Limen and Meta: Luigi Pirandello and phenomenology” di Giancarlo Guercio and ends with the show lesson "Pirandello's Women"of Pasquale De Cristofaro. Following, the show lesson will be proposed "Pirandello's women“, a performative journey always directed by Pasquale De Cristofaro and interpreted by Rosanna Di Palma, Carla Avarista and Daniela De Bartolomeis. “Pirandello's Women” is a journey into the complexities of the human soul and the family dynamics that shaped the great playwright, and will unfold in the meeting of the three most important women in Pirandello's life: Antonietta Portolano, Marta Abba and her daughter Lietta. At 18pm, in the La Cupola community center in Buonabitacolo, the presentation of the book took place “Limen and Meta: Luigi Pirandello and phenomenology"of Giancarlo Guercio, PhD in Italian studies at the University of Salerno. The volume explores innovative elements of Pirandello's writing, analyzing the philosophical affinities of his works and the connections with the principles of phenomenology. The presentation will be introduced with an informal chat between Guercio and the actor and director Pasquale De Cristofaro, author of "Pirandello's women", a dramatic lesson on Pirandello on stage immediately afterwards. De Cristofaro, with "Pirandello's Women", will stage a lesson show that offers an unprecedented point of view on Pirandello, set during an honorable evening dedicated to Marta, famous actress and muse of the recently deceased playwright. During the performance, a bronze bust will be inaugurated in honor of the writer from Agrigento. Marta will recite a monologue taken from "Six characters in search of an author", but after the applause she will retreat to the dressing room, where she will have an unexpected meeting with Antonietta and Lietta. Deep emotions and reflections will emerge, highlighting the complex relationship between Pirandello and the women in his life, offering the public a new perspective on the author's creative genius.
“This performance journey on Pirandello is an oddity, a recurring dream of mine, a nightmare, perhaps!” – comments director De Cristofaro – “For some time I had wanted to create a performance that would tell the story of Luigi Pirandello through the voices and looks of the three most important women in his life: Antonietta Portolano (his wife), Marta Abba (his actress muse) and his daughter Lietta.”
Also on April 25th, the show "Le Donne di Pirandello" is part of the "Panta Rei - La Forma dell'Acqua" exhibition, a festival with the artistic direction of Antonello Mercurio, a project conceived and created by the Municipality of Montesano sulla Marcellana in collaboration with the municipalities of Buonabitacolo, Casalbuono, Padula, Pisciotta and Sanza, with the co-financing of the POC Campania 2014-2020. The initiative is part of the urban regeneration, tourist promotion and cultural development interventions of the unitary program of cultural, naturalistic and food and wine tourist routes, with a national and international scope.
