An area to taste the white artichoke in dozens of different ways, a large market along the entire historic centre, shows and itinerant street artists, show cooking, presentations, workshops, conferences.
These are the main ingredients of the twelfth edition of White Tanager, scheduled from Thursday 25 April to Wednesday 1 May 2024 ad Auletta (SA).
Il white artichoke festival continues to be a case history for the entire rural world, representing a community that has managed to transform a product that has always been present in family gardens into a great opportunity for local agriculture.
Approximately 50 hectares which stimulated the request for the PGI and which is involving, in addition to the traditional area composed of Auletta, Pertosa, Caggiano and Salvitelle, also the municipalities of Ricigliano, San Gregorio Magno, Buccino, Polla, Sant'Arsenio, San Pietro al Tanagro, San Rufo, Athena Lucana, Sala Consilina and Padula.
"In recent years the artichoke has increasingly characterized our life, Bianco Tanagro has become a festival that is impacting the territory and the economy. We are very proud of it and want to do more and better. The PGI hypothesis is a further stimulus and also confirmation that we are proceeding in the right direction“, underlines the president of the Pro Loco of Auletta Giuseppe Lupo.
While we are working on the final details of the rich program of the initiative, which will last this year a whole week, the names of the are official new ambassadors of the white artichoke.
The recipients of the coveted recognition will be the agricultural entrepreneur Michele Sica of the Residenza Rurale Incartata of Calvanico (SA) and the senior bartender Anna Ferrentino of the Black Monday of Salerno.
Il ninth Golden Artichoke, intended for those who have distinguished themselves and fought for the valorization of their territory, will go to the poet and landscape scientist Franco Arminio.
For his extraordinary work and for having turned the spotlight on the inland countries, magical and precious places that need greater attention.
