The Municipality of Roscigno is divided into two parts: Roscigno Vecchia and Roscigno Nuova. Roscigno Vecchia, the historic center, is a hamlet that has been completely uninhabited for some time due to the presence of several landslides. The historic center of Roscigno began to empty around the year 1902 due to two ordinances of the civil engineering (the special law n. 301 of 7 July 1902 and the law n. 445 of 9 July 1908) which forced the population to move to The current location of the town, Roscigno nuova.
Only one inhabitant currently resides in Roscigno Vecchia (Giuseppe Spagnuolo) who, after the death of Dorina, the only real last resident, moved to one of the old houses, spends his days in the deserted streets of the town where, sometimes, some tourists come ; the solitary inhabitant then takes advantage of the opportunity to act as a guide.
