The Black Grape Well a Poplars, the beautiful hamlet of the municipality of pollica, Sa, is part of a beautiful trekking route that runs along the Mortella stream. This journey ends in the suggestive beach of Porto del Fico, which is located in the northernmost part. Walking this path is quite simple. You may encounter small difficulties only when crossing the stream, especially during flood periods of the year.
The characteristics of the path that lead to the Pozzo dell'Uva Nera
The path that leads to the Pozzo dell'Uva Nera does not have a ring-shaped route. The objective of those who follow it is to reach the wonderful small waterfall which, over the years, has given life to the well, which takes the name of the Black Grape.
This place is also known as the Devil's Well and is surrounded by a breathtaking natural landscape which, recently, has also been restored thanks to the intervention of a group of volunteers who are part of Legambiente.
But where does this particular name given to the well come from? It seems that, traditionally, it is compared to a type of ivy that characterizes the local rocks. When this withers, it takes on a shape that recalls the bunches of black grapes.
The length of the route is just over 3 kilometers. It can be accessed directly from Porto del Fico and ends with the wonderful waterfall. Alternatively, there is also a secondary entrance, located near an old bridge located near Pioppi, a small town.
The final part of the route is the most fascinating and this characteristic is due to the naturalistic environment of the area in which there is a lush Mediterranean scrub, which leads to the Pozzo dell'Uva Nera.
Spending hours along the stream and making the entire journey means living an experience immersed in a cool place, full of greenery and pampered by the sound of the water flowing from the rock.
How to tackle an excursion to the Pozzo dell'Uva Nera
As mentioned, the route is not complex and is suitable for everyone. Only the final part is slightly more complex, due to the presence of the stream.
To best tackle an excursion in this place, it is advisable to equip yourself with specific trekking shoes, which ensure greater stability and safety. Furthermore, you need poles suitable for mountain routes, as well as technical clothing that protects from the sun and wind.
A good supply of fresh water is also essential, as well as spare clothing. Anyone who wants to enjoy a swim at the end of the Fico beach can bring a swimsuit with them.
